Known for their Matzo Ball soup and Pastrami sandwich, this family owned diner, bakery and bar, aka Kibitz Room, careful you may get an impromptu jam session with someone who is on your play list. Canter’s is both legendary in the neighborhood so is the Canter’s family and lets’ not forget the who’s who that have sat in these seats. Everybody from rock stars to President Obama himself has made this deli a must. First opened in 1931 and still owned and operated by the Canter’s family
If you are a local you know that after 2pm and the bars close this is the destination you come to, tired and bit tipsy from the night to gobble down some potato latkes and pastrami on rye, or if you are really adventurous you may try their pickled tongue sandwich.
If you don’t want to sit and eat, take it to go. Or if you would like to take a little Canter’s home with you stop by the Deli and Bakery and do some grocery shopping. Nothing beats a good old fashion Jewish Deli.
