We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Shelley Levy.  Shelley is a brilliant artist that believes one could travel, virtually, anywhere in the world through the beauty of art.  All it takes is a little faith, paint, paintbrushes, sketch books or canvas and the world of adventure is at your door... Well in this case your computer screen.  Imagine going on a journey with paints and having Shelley as your guide!  What a way to experience travel especially during these unsettling times.  And no, you don’t have to be Frida Kahlo to paint, you just have to be you.  Shelley will put you at ease, whether you have never painted in your life, are a novice or an award-winning artist.  The classes are about painting beautiful places in the world.  That is what her courses are about.  Join her as she takes you on the trip of a life time.

Shelley the Artist

Our collaboration with Shelley the Artist is our premier launch of AB’s new virtual classes, and we are honored to have her as our first instructor on what is sure to be a wonderful adventure.

A little about Shelley

She is based between two vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. London, her birthplace, and Los Angeles her adopted home. Originally known for her Murals, LAX, Trader Joes, Sony Pictures, Melissa McCarthay, Chateau Marmutt and several private residences, the artist transitioned onto canvas, when she discovered the versatility and magic of oil paint. This discovery led to solo and group shows in London and Los Angeles. In recent years Shelley has divided her time between teaching and commissions for Melrose Trading Post, L’ermitage hotel, the red carnation group, a vineyard in South Africa and created a huge commission for The Farmers Market at the Grove, here in Los Angeles.

Covid found her teaching skills very much in demand and it was during this time she decided that people needed a break from 2020...this led her to explore her passion for Urban Sketching and marry it with another favorite, travel. This is how TravelSketch was born. A Covid baby with a massive reach. Nobody wants the real time stress of travelling, but everyone wants to look at somewhere new, somewhere unseen, unimagined and ready to be explored.

Shelley is on the faculty of The Brentwood Art Center as well as having a following of private students in the U.S. and abroad. She has been featured in the Los Angeles Times for her Murals, Concierge Magazine, VoyageLA.com. Appeared on the Television show, Clean House, created artwork for a BAFTA award.

Mostly self-taught with an exceptional year studying with Evans Webb, who was in charge of scenic art at Paramount Pictures for several years. This was where she learned the value of developing a daily drawing practice, along with understanding the fundamentals of becoming an oil painter. She then went on to study life drawing, which she believes is the foundation of every art practice. Her passion for live sketching is probably her favorite artistic pursuit and the one she most enjoys creating and teaching.
